We are looking for Deaf women who have experienced domestic abuse and never used any of SignHealth’s services.

There is currently no up-to-date research available about Deaf people experiencing domestic abuse. We are pleased to be working in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University to carry out a research project about Deaf women experiencing domestic abuse. This research will help us to develop a better understanding of Deaf women’s experiences of domestic abuse and how domestic abuse services for Deaf women can meet their needs.

Participation in this research is confidential. We have asked an independent Deaf woman to carry out confidential interviews via Zoom. We hope Deaf women will come forwards to help us with this research so that better support is available in the future for women who are being abused.

Please contact research@signhealth.org.uk if you would like to share your experience. We can send you more details in English and BSL. If you feel distressed after sharing your experience, we can signpost you to the right services.
