Endometriosis is a long-term (chronic) condition where tissue, similar to the lining of the womb, is found elsewhere in the body. It is very common, affecting around 1 in 10 of those who menstruate.
For some people, it can have a significant impact on their physical health, emotional wellbeing, and daily routine.
It can cause severe pain in the pelvis and make it harder to get pregnant. Endometriosis can start at a person’s first menstrual period and last until menopause.
