SignHealth and the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) are excited to announce a new collaboration.

NDCS wants to make every moment count for deaf children and their families. Evidence shows that early years are a crucial time for deaf children and we’re now heavily focused on providing support to deaf children and their families as soon as we can after identification. This means giving deaf children and their families what they need right from the very start.

However, we know that deaf young people have valued many of the services we previously provided, so we’ve also been working hard to find a fantastic new home for a number of these. NDCS are excited and very happy to announce that we are transferring three programmes for deaf young people:

  • the Healthy Minds training programme
  • Peer to Peer Mentoring
  • and the Youth Advisory Board (which is known as the YAB).

SignHealth will carry on these valuable services to support deaf young people throughout the UK.

SignHealth is honoured to be given this valuable opportunity to continue, develop and further strengthen this outstanding work with deaf children and young people. These projects and resources will greatly support SignHealth’s new strategic direction, which includes making sure deaf children and young people can experience better mental health and wellbeing.

Both charities are excited for this new chapter where together, deaf children and young people will be supported throughout all stages in their lives.

NDCS is delighted that these programmes are going to be delivered by the experts at SignHealth which will help deaf young people to build their confidence and support their wellbeing as a result.

SignHealth is looking forward to involving deaf children and young people in shaping these new services and thanks NDCS for their commitment and hard work to date.
